Our team of experienced professionals have a wealth of knowledge with this process and will guide you to ensure the experience is as smooth as possible.
1.
SELECT A DEMOLITION CONTRACTOR
Once you’ve made the decision to demolish your current home, it’s essential to do the necessary research to find the right service provider. This typically involves outlining the required tasks for the property, including the removal of trees, shrubs, and roots (along with specifying which trees to be retained), sheds, outbuildings, pools, old septic tanks, drainage pipes, and any salvageable building materials. Don’t forget to consider council requirements for crossovers!
2.
TIME TO RELOCATE
It’s time to vacate! Ensure all personal belongings, furniture, and items both inside and outside the house have been removed. Use tape to mark any external items you wish to keep, such as trees or sheds.
3.
DISCONNECT SERVICES
As the property owner, it’s your responsibility to arrange the disconnection of services before the demolition work begins. In most cases, your chosen demolition service provider can handle this on your behalf. Contact your gas and electricity providers to request service abolishment. Arrange for final meter readings from both providers prior to meter removal. Remember, it’s important to ensure the services are abolished, not just disconnected.
4.
PEST MANAGEMENT
You demolish provider will engage the services of a reputable pest control contractor. They will strategically bait each room, including the ceiling space. After baiting is complete, coordinate with your local government authority for a house inspection.
5.
DEMOLITION PERMIT
Your chosen demolition service provider will handle the submission of your demolition permit application to the local council, which will include all service disconnection notices and the pest control report.
